What a year it has been!

Hello Craniacs

Your website has just woken up again after a very strange year.  You won’t be surprised to know that Covid restrictions had a severe impact on our ability to monitor the cranes particularly during the breeding season.  By the end of the year we had gathered enough information to confirm that 4 juvenile cranes have joined our flock - all offspring of our released cranes.   Apart from two birds, all the released birds known alive at the end of 2019 are still with us.   31 fledglings from our breeding cranes have been recorded so far but only 5 have been ringed so a considerable number of younger birds, now of breeding age, will be difficult to monitor unless paired with ringed birds.   Each bird’s biography is now up to date and the Annual Report is available on this website (click on News tab) if you want to find out more.  We sincerely hope that the restrictions will have eased in time for the coming breeding season.  Let’s hope it is a bumper year for our breeding cranes.  Also I will make sure that there are occasional update messages on the website.
