Character profile:
June 2013: Fieden is a bold individual who seems to be content foraging alone in the extremities of the enclosure or socialising with the other chicks. Named ‘Frieden’ as her leg ring colours (Bk Re Ye) are the same as the German flag. There are also many villages in the Schorfheide Chorin Biosphere, where the crane eggs come from, with Frieden in the name eg Friedenfelde, Friedenwalde etc etc. She is a lone bird, her sibling egg being left within the nest in Germany for her parents to rear, so she may well have a German sibling out there.. somewhere! January 2015: Frieden was released in September and was integrating well into the Somerset way of life. Sadly though, she went missing in December 2013 shortly before Christmas and has not been seen since.
