More baby cranes

 Chick 31 (White Blue)

I spent a beautiful day helping the team at the Conservation Breeding Unit last week.  The young chicks are wonderful and are already quickly showing their unique characters.  Some are timid and jumpy, others are bold and ballsy.  Chick 30 (White Red) is totally obsessed with the plantain flowers and tried again and again to attack and remove them from their no avail!  Their chirruping contact call is really very endearing and you have to admit that they look very very sweet indeed.  However - looks can be deceiveing and the chicks are still reared in isolation from one another, as at this age they are highly aggressive towards one another and those little beaks are getting sharper all the time!
