Harvest - time of plenty.

Harvesting wheat  - last day of July.

The Somerset cranes have recently been making the most of the wheat harvest that is rapidly progressing across the higher ground along the Stoke St.Gregory Ridge to the North of West Sedgemoor.  They have spent a couple of days just one or two fields south of The Willow and Wetlands Centre at Meare Court, Meare Green -  hoovering up left-over split grain and picking through the ripe ears of corn in areas that have been flattened by rain or wind.

Look out for them on a recently harvested field near you soon!
