Cranes AWOL on Saturday

The Somerset Eighteen - Sunday Morning, Aller Moor. KH.

On Saturday 19th March the cranes could not be found....where were they? This is the first day since release in August that we have not caught up with them at some point during the day.  Perhaps they were in a dip just out of radio receiver range...or perhaps they had travelled further afield? We await our regular satellite download data from the four birds fitted with PTT leg transmitters with much excitement as this will tell us the answer!   On Sunday the birds were back to some of their more usual haunts and were photographed by Kevin Harris one of the monitoring team of local volunteers - see above.
